Peter Jason, Character Actor and John Carpenter Regular, Has Passed Away

Character actor and frequent John Carpenter collaborator Peter Jason has passed away at the age of 80.

He amassed over 250 acting credits over the span of his seven-decade career, including seven Carpenter films: Prince of Darkness, They Live, Body Bags, In the Mouth of Madness, Village of the Damned, Escape from L.A., and Ghosts of Mars.

“Peter Jason, one of the great character actors in cinema, has died,” Carpenter shared on X. “His first movie was Howard Hawks’ Rio Lobo. He was a dear friend and I’ll miss him terribly.”

Jason’s other genre credits include Arachnophobia, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Congo, Mortal Kombat, Dreamscape, Willow Creek, Dante’s Peak, Alien Nation, and Trick or Treats.

Outside of the genre, the prolific actor’s appeared in “Deadwood,” The Karate Kid, Hail Caesar!, Adaptation., Seabiscuit, and 48 Hrs., to name a few.
