Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds coming September with Ichiban, Joker, Hatsune Miku and Minecraft DLC
Worlds crossed
· Rock Paper ShotgunSonic Racing: CrossWorlds got a new trailer at this evening's Summer Game Fest 2025, and with it news of some of the worlds that will be crossing with the blue hedgehog. That came in the form of three new racer reveals: Hatsune Miku, Ichiban from Yakuza: Like A Dragon, and Joker from Persona 5. We also got a release date: September 25th.
I'm not Sonic fan, but I am a Sonic & All-Stars Racing: Transformed fan. Part of the fun of that kart racer was in speeding through tracks based on other Sega games as drivers such as Manager Man from the Football Manager box art. I'm glad CrossWorlds is bringing at least the driver side of those pleasures back.
Sega's Takashi Iizuka also came out and confirmed that the online multiplayer would be cross-platform, although I was distracted by Geoff describing Iizuka as the "creator" of Sonic. Yuji Naka must be spinning in his jail cell.
At the very end of the presentation, Iizuka also introduced a new Minecraft collaboration, which looks like a Minecraft-themed set of tracks and characters for CrossWorlds, although it may also be season pass or DLC content, by the sounds of it.
You'll find more about CrossWorlds on the official site, which looks and performs like it was built in Flash, or on its Steam page.
