It’s been a while since we’ve been treated to the lovely Jane Austen story of Sense and Sensibility. How do you improve on the perfection of Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant and Kate Winslet directed by Ang Lee? Well, it’s still a story worth telling with a whole new cast.
It’s releasing in October so it will probably hit Telluride at least.
This version is directed by a female, Georgia Oakley, so I guess we can see what the story looks like reflected through the female gaze. Big shoes to fill there. She wrote and directed a film called Blue Jean, “In 1988, a closeted teacher is pushed to the brink when a new student threatens to expose her sexuality.”
Based on Jane Austen’s iconic masterpiece, watch the trailer for SENSE AND SENSIBILITY, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones, Esmé Creed-Miles, Caitríona Balfe, George MacKay, and Fiona Shaw. Only in theaters October 16.
From Focus Features and Working Title comes an irresistible new take on Jane Austen’s iconic Sense and Sensibility: a charming, witty, and deeply relatable story of love and sisterhood starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles.
