The indie romantic comedy sensation Anora continued its awards season momentum with three major wins at the 2025 Film Independent Spirt Awards on Saturday.

The film won Best Feature, Best Lead Performance for Mikey Madison and Best Director for Sean Baker at the 40th annual ceremony, which was held in Santa Monica, Calif. The wins for Anora at the Film Independent Spirit Awards follow recent Best Picture wins for the movie at the Critics Choice Awards and Producers Guild Awards.

In addition, Baker won the Best Director trophy at the 2025 Directors Guild of America Awards, while Madison took Best Actress at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards. Madison is also a nominee for Outstanding Female Actor in a Lead Role at Sunday night’s 2025 SAG Awards and the 2025 Oscars.

The comedy-drama A Real Pain also won a pair of major Film Independent Spirit Awards—Best Screenplay for Jesse Eisenberg (who also directed and starred in the film) and Best Supporting Performance for Kieran Culkin.
