Lucknow, Oct 18: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said every inch of Pakistan’s territory lies within range of BrahMos and what happened during Operation Sindoor was just a trailer.

BrahMos has become a key pillar of India’s armed forces and has strengthened the country’s belief that it can turn its dreams into reality, Singh said after he and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off the first batch of the missiles manufactured at the BrahMos Aerospace unit here.According to an official statement, the achievement represents a significant step for the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) and strengthens India’s resolve to achieve Atmanirbharta in defence production. The missiles were produced at the new integration and testing facility located in Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow, set up by BrahMos Aerospace — the manufacturer of the world’s fastest supersonic cruise missile system.

The state-of-the-art facility, inaugurated on May 11, 2025, is equipped with modern infrastructure for missile assembly, integration, testing, and quality checks. After testing, the missiles are readied for deployment by the Indian Armed Forces, the statement added.

Calling the event a foundation for a self-reliant India, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the defence corridor had already provided employment to over 15,000 youth in the state. “So far, more than 2,500 acres of land have been made available across six nodes for defence industries,” he said.

He further revealed that the Defence Minister and the BrahMos Director General had recently handed over a GST cheque worth ₹40 crore to the state government. “When 100 BrahMos missiles are produced annually — with capacity expected to reach 150 — Uttar Pradesh will earn between ₹150 and ₹200 crore every year through GST,” Adityanath added.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, and senior officials were also present during the ceremony. (Agencies)
