Ditch third party websites, Spotify's native 'Listening Stats' tracker is here

by · Android Police

Beyond the once-a-year Wrapped recap, Spotify users have, for the most part, remained oblivious to their real-time listening habits. Apple Music is better when it comes to giving users detailed insights in a more-frequent-than-once-a-year-manner, though Spotify seems to now be catching up.

For what it's worth, users do have the option to procure their non-annual Spotify stats, albeit that requires them to connect their account to third party platforms like stats.fm or last.fm. However, with what Spotify is cooking now, using third-party platforms will soon be a thing of the past.

The music streaming giant, in a new blog post today, announced the arrival of a new "listening stats" tab.

We’re introducing listening stats to help you relive your week in music in a fun, shareable snapshot.

The new tab is available to both free and Premium users in 60+ markets around the world. The feature essentially compiles a list of your top artists and songs from the past four weeks. It then "serves up playlists inspired by what you love or tracks you might want to queue up next."

The streaming giant added that the feature, in addition to highlighting your music taste, will also include a special highlight. The bonus addition will reportedly capture what "makes your listening unique," which could be a new discovery, a milestone, or even a fan moment.

The new tab is directly connected to Spotify's recent messaging feature, allowing users to share their stats with other users directly on the app. Alternatively, users also have the option to share their stats on other platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, and more.

Here's how you can check out the new tab

  • Head to your profile by clicking the avatar on the top left.
  • Tap 'Listening stats.'
  • Check out your top artists, songs, and insights.
  • Tap share to post your stats.
