Intense Teaser Trailer for Netflix's THE BEAST IN ME Starring Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantNetflix has released the first teaser trailer for its upcoming crime thriller series The Beast in Me, and it looks like we’re in for an intense psychological ride. The series comes from the creative minds behind Homeland.
The story follows acclaimed author Aggie Wiggs, played by Claire Danes, who has withdrawn from public life after the tragic loss of her son. Struggling to find meaning again, she becomes fixated on her new neighbor, Nile Jarvis, portrayed by Matthew Rhys, a powerful real estate mogul with a dark cloud hanging over his past.
Jarvis was once the prime suspect in his wife’s mysterious disappearance, and Aggie’s curiosity quickly spirals into an obsession.
As Netflix describes it, “At once horrified and fascinated by this man, Aggie finds herself compulsively hunting for the truth – chasing his demons while fleeing her own – in a game of cat & mouse that might turn deadly.”
The cast also includes Brittany Snow, Natalie Morales, Jonathan Banks, David Lyons, Tim Guinee, Hettienne Park, Deidre O’Connell, Aleyse Shannon, Will Brill, Kate Burton, Bill Irwin, Amir Arison, and Julie Ann Emery.
Showrunner Howard Gordon explained the layered meaning behind the series title:
"The title of the series comes from a Johnny Cash song — but it’s not as simple as it might initially seem. It really is about all of our complicity. Whether it's Monica Lewinsky or Amanda Knox or Nile Jarvis or whatever, sometimes we are quick to make assumptions.
“But when we are forced to look at it from another angle, do we have the humility and the compassion to listen and to revise the narrative?"
The Beast in Me is created by writer Gabe Rotter (The X-Files) and is showrun and co-written by Gordon, with additional writing from Erika Sheffer, C.A. Johnson, Daniel Pearle, Ali Liebegott, and Mike Skerrett.
The series is directed by filmmaker Antonio Campos (Christine, The Devil All the Time, The Staircase) and produced by 20th Television.
This footage teases a gripping mix of psychological drama, mystery, and suspense. With Danes and Rhys leading the charge, it looks like Netflix has another must-watch thriller on its hands this fall.
The Beast in Me premieres on Netflix on November 13, 2025.
