Wicked Awesome Trailer for STAR WARS: MAUL – SHADOW LORD Teases Maul’s Plan to Bring Down the Empire

A new chapter of Star Wars animation is about to kick off, and it looks badass! Lucasfilm has released a wicked awesome new trailer for Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, giving fans a glimpse at the brutal state Maul finds himself in during the early years of the Galactic Empire.

The series picks up after the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and follows the former Sith apprentice as he tries to claw his way back into power while plotting revenge against the master who destroyed everything he built.

The trailer shows a Maul who’s battered, isolated, and still fueled by rage. After the crushing defeat he and his brother Savage Opress suffered at the hands of Darth Sidious during The Clone Wars, Maul is left to rebuild his influence from the shadows.

The new animated series explores what happens next as the Empire rises and Maul begins forming dangerous new alliances.

One of the most interesting aspects teased in the trailer involves a former Jedi Padawan named Devon Izara, voiced by Gideon Adlon. Devon is on the run following Order 66 and trying to survive in a galaxy now ruled by the Empire. That’s when Maul enters the picture with an offer that’s difficult to ignore.

He promises Devon and her master, Eeko-Dio-Daki, voiced by Dennis Haysbert, the chance to strike back at the Empire itself and take it down.

Of course, teaming up with Maul is about as risky as it gets. Anyone familiar with the character knows trust isn’t exactly his strong suit. The series seems ready to explore that uneasy partnership and the dangerous gamble Devon takes when she considers working with someone who’s spent most of his life serving the dark side.

The show comes from Dave Filoniand centers on Darth Maul, the iconic villain originally created by George Lucas who first stunned audiences in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.

Since then, Maul has become one of the franchise’s most compelling characters thanks to his expanded storylines in animated series like The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

Sam Witwerreturns once again to voice Maul, continuing the performance that has helped define the character across animation for years.

Set during the rise of the Galactic Empire, Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord looks ready to dig into the darker corners of the galaxy. It explores a time when the Jedi are nearly extinct, the Empire’s grip is tightening, and a former Sith apprentice is scheming to tear it all down.

We won’t have to wait long to see how it all unfolds. The first two episodes of Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord start streaming on Disney+ on April 6, and I can’t wait to watch it!
