First Look at SQUID GAME Season 3 Which Is Set to Premiere This Summer
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantNetflix has released a first look at Squid Game Season 3, and they’ve revealed that the show will be returning sooner than we thought.
Squid Game will return to the streaming servive this summer on June 27th, 2025, which is only six months after season two launched, and it became Netflix’s third most-watched season of television ever.
The third and final season of Squid Game “follows Gi-Hun (Lee Jung-Jae) after losing his best friend in the game and being driven to utter despair by The Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who hides his true identity to infiltrate the gam.
“The story explores what choices Gi-Hun will make in the face of overwhelming despair, while the Front Man continues onto his next move and the surviving players’ choices lead to graver consequences with each round.”
There are still a number of people that survived Season 2 including “Myung-gi (Yim Si-Wan), a former cryptocurrency influencer who, after losing a hefty sum of cash and incurring huge losses for himself and his subscribers, becomes a fugitive until his involvement in the game.”
There’s Jun-hee (Jo Yu-Ri), “a strong-willed woman who participates in the game due to bad investments made at the advice of said influencer; Yong-sik (Yang Dong-Geun), a compulsive gambler neck-deep in debt who finds his own mother is a participant in the game and his mother Geum-ja (Kang Ae-Sim).”
The series comes from creator Hwang Dong-Hyuk, who serves as writer, director and executive producer. When talkling about Season 3, he said:
“When I was writing the script for the two seasons, I felt like there was a big turning point or an inflection point, and that was the end of episode seven, so I thought that it would do it justice to have a separate season after that. That’s why I had first seven episodes as Season 2 and then the rest of Season 3.”
