Marvel’s AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Trailer Plan Explained: When They Drop, Where to Watch, and Who Leads Each One

by · GeekTyrant

Marvel Studios has officially kicked off the marketing forAvengers: Doomsday. The first teaser is out in the wild and is playing before screenings of Avatar: Fire & Ash. But, that hasn’t stopped it from leaking and spreading online

I’m going to break down how Marvel is rolling out the Doomsday trailers, when each one is expected to drop, where you’ll be able to watch them, and which characters are set to headline each teaser as the countdown to the next Avengers event begins.

The first teaser debuted alongside Avatar: Fire & Ash on December 18th, 2026, making it a theatrical exclusive for now. That short piece of footage confirmed Chris Evans is back as Steve Rogers and he’s a father.

The plan reportedly includes four trailers total, all playing in front of Avatar: Fire & Ash over several weeks. It sounds wild, but tying two massive Disney releases together is a smart way to keep theaters packed while slowly feeding fans new information.

A lot of fans will flock to theaters to watch these trailers and then leave the theater because there’s no way people are going to want to stay and watch Avatar: Fire and Ash four times.

Trailer two is expected on December 25th, followed by trailer three on January 1st, and the fourth and final teaser arriving January 8th. Each trailer is said to focus on a different core character or angle of the story, rather than cutting a traditional all-in-one preview right out of the gate.

As for watching them, that’s where things get tricky. Right now, the Steve Rogers teaser is intended to remain exclusive to theaters. Leaks have already spread online, but officially Marvel seems content keeping these early previews tied to Avatar.

The same is expected for trailers two and three. The fourth teaser could be different. There’s a strong chance Marvel uses that final piece as a bridge to an official full trailer release online, possibly landing sometime in mid-January if the plan doesn’t change.

Before the first teaser even screened, rumors pointed to Steve Rogers being the opening focus, and that turned out to be spot on. The rest of the reported lineup leans heavily into familiar faces from the Infinity Saga.

Trailer two is expected to spotlight Thor, with Chris Hemsworth stepping back into the role of the God of Thunder. Leaks suggest this version of Thor will be a noticeable shift from the more comedic take seen in the Taika Waititi-directed films. A heavier tone would make sense, especially if Marvel wants to reestablish Thor as a true cosmic powerhouse heading into an Avengers-level threat.

Trailer three is where things could get really interesting. That teaser is rumored to center on Doctor Doom and give audiences their first real look at Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU in an entirely new role.

Since Doom is the title character of Doomsday and Downey is leading the film, this trailer will likely lay out his motivations and long-term plan. There’s also chatter that Marvel may frame Doom as the hero of his own story, at least from his perspective, which would be a smart way to deepen the character right out of the gate.

The fourth trailer is still the biggest question mark. According to a report from Feature First, it’s expected to be more of a general teaser that brings multiple characters together rather than focusing on one specific hero or villain. If that’s true, it could be the trailer Marvel finally releases online in an official capacity.

However it plays out, Marvel is clearly taking its time with this campaign, choosing a slow burn instead of dumping everything at once. By the time the full trailer hits, audiences should already have a solid sense of the stakes, the players, and why Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are being pulled back into the fight.

Avengers: Doomsday is currently set to hit theaters on December 18th, 2026.
