Daniel Craig Faces A “Perfectly Impossible” Case In The Trailer For WAKE UP DEAD MAN

The full trailer for Daniel Craig’s return as Benoit Blanc in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery has arrived, and the Southern detective is staring down what he calls a “perfectly impossible” murder.

Writer and director Rian Johnson is steering Blanc into fresh territory again, and this new chapter looks packed with mystery, hidden motives, and a killer ensemble cast.

The trailer sets the tone as Blanc surveys a twisted new case. “This goes way beyond normal police work,” he admits. “This is something even I have not experienced.”

The film sends him to an upstate New York parish where a church leader’s death sets off a chain reaction of secrets and suspicion. At the core of this story are former boxer turned priest Jud Duplenticy, played by Josh O’Connor, and Monsignor Jefferson Wicks, played by Josh Brolin.

The rest of the cast includes Glenn Close, Thomas Haden Church, Kerry Washington, Daryl McCormack, Jeremy Renner, Andrew Scott, Mila Kunis, and Cailee Spaeny. Everyone feels like a potential suspect and the trailer doesn’t shy away from teasing how tangled this mystery might get.

Johnson previously explained how Wake Up Dead Man shifts the structure of the franchise in a way fans of classic detective stories might appreciate.

“The reality of this movie, it has almost like a more traditional murder mystery structure,” he said. “This is how most Agatha Christie books work, where in the first act you meet all the suspects, you meet the protagonist, who’s not the detective. Then the murder happens, and the detective shows up.”

Johnson also revealed he will be stepping away from the Knives Out series after this film. He shared that he is already working on his next project, describing it as “something completely different, an original thing.”

Wake Up Dead Man hits theaters on November 26 and will be available to stream on Netflix starting December 12. Enjoy the trailer!
