During the 20th anniversary celebration at New York Comic Con, Nickelodeon revealed two major projects that will expand the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe, which includew a brand-new fighting video game and a 2D animated YouTube series.

The panel was packed with nostalgia as original cast members Zach Tyler Eisen (Aang), Jack De Sena (Sokka), Michaela Jill Murphy (Toph), Dante Basco (Zuko), Mae Whitman (Katara), and co-creator Bryan Konietzko joined moderator Janet Varney (Korra) to celebrate two decades of bending brilliance.

One of the biggest reveals was the upcoming one-on-one fighting video game, currently titled Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game.

The title will feature a roster of fan-favorite characters including Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, Azula, Toph, and Korra, all beautifully hand-drawn in 2D animation. Each character will showcase their elemental powers in fast-paced combat.

it includes Aang gracefully airbending and unleashing the Avatar State, Zuko wielding his Blue Spirit mask and dual swords, and Korra bending all four elements with intense power. The game is set to release on consoles in the summer of 2026.

Fans also got a first look at a chibi-style animated series that will debut on YouTube. These bite-sized 2D shorts will reimagine classic Avatar moments while introducing new, lighthearted adventures from across the Four Nations.

One of the premiere shorts revisits the first episode, with Katara and Sokka discovering Aang and facing off against Zuko and the Fire Nation in adorable, exaggerated fashion.

These two new projects are just part of the growing Avatar universe. Next up is the highly anticipated sequel series Avatar: Seven Havens, which follows the Avatar who succeeds Korra.

On the cinematic side, fans can look forward to The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, set to hit theaters on October 9, 2026.
