AVENGERS: ENDGAME Re-Release Will Feature New Footage and a Massive Theater Upgrade Ahead of DOOMSDAY

by · GeekTyrant

Marvel fans have a pretty great reason to head back to theaters this fall. Avengers: Endgame is returning to the big screen, but this isn’t just a standard re-release. There’s something new baked into it, and it’s meant to build hype for the next major chapter in the MCU, Avengers: Doomsday.

The announcement originally dropped last year, but during the Walt Disney Studios presentation at CinemaCon, Joe Russo and Anthony Russo revealed that this September 25 re-release will include brand-new footage added to the already epic three-hour film.

So, if you thought you had already seen everything Endgame had to offer, think again!

There’s also a technical upgrade coming with it. Both Endgame and Doomsday, which hits theaters on December 18, will be presented in something called “Infinity Vision.”

It’s a new premium large format certification designed to push theatrical presentation to another level. The idea is simple. Bigger screens, sharper visuals, and more immersive sound, all working together to deliver the kind of experience these massive Marvel movies are built for.

The name “Infinity Vision” is obviously a wink to the Infinity Stones and Vision himself, but the branding fits right in with Marvel’s style.

The certification isn’t just marketing fluff either. It’s tied to real upgrades across theaters worldwide, with more than 75 locations in the U.S. and over 300 globally already meeting the standard. These auditoriums are equipped with massive screens, laser projection for brighter and clearer images, and high-end audio systems that aim to fully surround the audience.

Andrew Cripps, head of theatrical distribution for The Walt Disney Studios, explained the thinking behind it, saying:

“Disney’s standards for production quality are second to none, with every single detail of a film finely tuned for an immersive experience.

“Infinity Vision certification extends that commitment to the theaters themselves, representing a shared effort between The Walt Disney Studios and the exhibition community to help audiences quickly find the very best screens in their area to experience our films in exactly the way they’re designed to be seen – on a huge screen with the sharpest, clearest color and sound.”

All of this feels like a strategic move to remind audiences just how big these Avengers movies can feel when they’re experienced the right way.

Doomsday is set to open the same day as Dune: Part Three, directed by Denis Villeneuve, which will reportedly have an exclusive IMAX run for three weeks thanks to being shot with IMAX cameras.

That sets up a pretty intense box office showdown in December, with two massive cinematic events going head-to-head. Maybe Marvel is trying to use this Infinity Vision theater tech to compete with IMAX?

For now though, Endgame is stepping back into the spotlight. New footage, upgraded presentation, and the promise of what’s coming next. If Marvel is trying to reignite that event-movie energy, we’ll have to see if it works.
