A new poster for The Mandalorian and Groguhas arrived, putting Din Djarin and everyone’s favorite little green troublemaker front and center as they gear up for their theatrical debut next year.

Along with the return of the duo, the film will introduce a fully CGI take on Rotta the Hutt, Jabba’s son, who fans may remember from The Clone Wars. This time, Rotta will be voiced by Jeremy Allen White, and the actor is opening up about how he landed the role and what brought him into the world of Star Wars.

In a recent interview, White admitted that he didn’t even know Jabba had a kid when the offer came his way. What he did know was that he admired Jon Favreau, and that alone was enough to get the conversation rolling.

White told Variety, "I’ve been a fan of Jon Favreau’s for a very long time. Swingers and Made had a tremendous effect on me as a young man, a young actor. We met at a party. I told him that, and he was like, ‘I have something I want to talk to you about. Can I call you?’

“It was the next day and he was talking about Mandalorian, and I said, ‘It’s a great show. You do a great job. I’d known Pedro Pascal for a little bit, and he’s great and has fun on it and he loves you.’

“He was like, ‘I want you to be in it.’ Fantastic, of course. And then he started explaining it and started talking about Rotta. I’d never done voice work. There isn’t any stop-motion work or anything physical like that.

“I was excited about doing a job that is in this world of Star Wars, a world that I have admired for a very long time. I was also excited about doing the movie that my daughters can go and see."

White added that the filmmakers digitally enhanced his performance, saying, "I did a bit of a voice, but then I think Jon also ended up tweaking it a little bit. It was maybe a year ago. I did a couple sessions. I’ve not seen any of it."

Favreau is directing and producing the movie, with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and chief creative officer Dave Filoni also producing. The trio has shaped the entire Mandalorian era on Disney+, and now they’re steering things toward a cinematic event.

Favreau previously said, "I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting."

Kennedy added, "Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen."

Pedro Pascal returns as Din Djarin, though his on-set presence might have been limited due to filming The Fantastic Four: First Steps for Marvel Studios. Even so, his voice and performance remain essential to the character.

The cast also includes sci-fi legend Sigourney Weaver as Ward, a colonel leading the New Republic’s Adelphi Rangers and a former Rebel Alliance pilot. Meanwhile, fans continue to speculate about the villain, with longtime Clone Wars bounty hunter Embo rumored to appear, though he was nowhere to be seen in the first teaser.

The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters on May 22, 2026.
