DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Officially Renewed for Season 3 and Will Begin Shooting Next Year
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantAfter months of speculation about the future of Daredevil: Born Again, fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief. The Man Without Fear isn’t going anywhere as Marvel has officially renewed the Disney+ series for a Season 3, and cameras are set to roll in 2026.
The road here has been anything but straightforward. Daredevil: Born Again was initially announced as an ambitious 18-episode series before being restructured into two nine-episode seasons.
A creative shakeup later slimmed down season 2 to just 8 episodes. That uncertainty left fans wondering if Matt Murdock’s story would really continue beyond that second season.
Even comments from Charlie Coxfueled speculation that the series was winding down, though those remarks were later clarified as being taken out of context. Now, we finally have confirmation from Marvel Studios itself.
IGN recently spoke with Brad Winderbaum, Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation at Marvel Studios, who set the record straight:
"In terms of Daredevil, yeah, we are greenlit for Season 3 and we start shooting next year," the executive said, sharing no additional details about what fans can expect from the planned third season.
That leaves plenty of room for speculation about where the story could go. With Wilson Fisk currently serving as New York’s mayor in the series, Season 2 is expected to bring that arc to a head.
If Fisk falls, Matt could face new threats ranging from the resurrection of The Hand to the possibility of Murdock himself being locked up, a storyline explored in the comics by writers like Ed Brubaker and Chip Zdarsky. Fans are also hungry for Elektra’s long-overdue return.
As for crossovers, don’t expect a guaranteed team-up with Spider-Man anytime soon, despite The Punisher’s confirmed involvement. Still, given Matt’s history of surprise appearances, including that unforgettable cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it’s hard not to imagine him swinging by Peter Parker’s world again.
With Krysten Ritter already confirmed to reprise Jessica Jones in Season 2, this renewal feels like another step toward a potential Defenders reunion.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 is streaming now on Disney+, with Season 2 expected to drop in March 2026. Now we know Season 3 will keep the story alive beyond that, giving Matt Murdock’s fight for Hell’s Kitchen plenty of room to grow.
