Javier Bardem Unleashes Chaos in Apple TV’s CAPE FEAR Trailer with Amy Adams

Apple TV is diving headfirst into psychological horror with the new trailer for Cape Fear, a new series that reimagines the chilling revenge story.

This latest take looks intense, stylish, and seriously unsettling, with Javier Bardem stepping into the role of Max Cady and Amy Adams caught in the storm that follows.

The story traces back to the novel The Executioners by John D. MacDonald, which first hit the screen in 1962 before being reinvented by Martin Scorsese in 1991 with Robert De Niro, Nick Nolte, and Jessica Lange.

That version earned two Oscar nominations and became a defining thriller of its era. Now, the story is getting a serialized twist, and it’s not holding back.

This new adaptation centers on married attorneys Anna and Tom Bowden, played by Adams and Patrick Wilson, whose lives begin to unravel when Max Cady walks free from prison. He’s not just looking to settle old scores. He wants to dismantle everything they care about.

"Is there any way Max could know about what we did?" That question hangs heavy over the trailer, hinting at buried secrets and the kind of dread that creeps in slowly before exploding into chaos.

The footage leans into sharp editing and eerie tension, teasing a story that feels both grounded and unhinged.

The cast is loaded with talent, including Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Malia Pyles, and CCH Pounder, all orbiting around Bardem’s volatile performance.

This series is executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Scorsese, with Nick Antosca leading the charge as creator. Antosca’s track record with projects like Channel Zero and The Act and we can expect something darker, stranger, and more character-driven.

Each episode is helmed by a different filmmaker, including Morten Tyldum, S.J. Clarkson, Amanda Marsalis, Reed Morano, Trey Shults, and more.

Produced by Amblin Television and Eat the Cat, Cape Fear is set to premiere on Apple TV starting June 5th, 2026, with new episodes rolling out weekly throughout the summer.
