STAR WARS Drops Emotional May the 4th Video Spotlighting THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU

Star Wars fans got a pretty heartfelt surprise for May the 4th this year. To celebrate the iconic holiday, Lucasfilm released a new promotional video for The Mandalorian and Grogu, the upcoming big-screen continuation of the hit Disney+ series.

The film, directed by Jon Favreau and starring Pedro Pascal, arrives in theaters on May 22, 2026, and this latest video does more than just tease what’s ahead, it actually looks back.

The video opens with a montage of classic Star Wars moments, pulling in legendary characters like Luke Skywalker, Ben Kenobi, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Qui-Gon Jinn. Over these moments, Din Djarin’s voice cuts through with a line that sets the tone:

“The old protect the young, and then the young protect the old.”

From there, the tribute expands across the saga, weaving in glimpses of Yoda, Rey, and Anakin Skywalker, reinforcing the generational thread that has always been at the core of Star Wars storytelling.

Then it shifts gears.

The second half of the video puts the spotlight squarely on The Mandalorian and Grogu, giving fans a taste of what’s coming next for Din Djarin and his Force-sensitive companion. It’s a clear reminder that while the saga honors its past, it’s still pushing forward with new stories.

In the film, “The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu.”

Alongside Pascal, the film brings in some exciting additions, including Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White, with White taking on the role of Rotta the Hutt, the son of Jabba. Favreau is also producing the film with Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce.

It’s been a while since Star Wars has hit theaters in this way, and this project feels like a natural evolution of what The Mandalorian built on Disney+. If you’ve been following Din and Grogu’s journey, this is clearly the next big step.

May the 4th delivered something special this year. Not just hype for what’s coming, but a reminder of why fans keep coming back to this universe in the first place.
