THE MANDALORIAN & GROGU Footage Wows at Star Wars Celebration, Here's a Description!

We’re still a year out from The Mandalorian & Groguhitting theaters, but at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, Lucasfilm dropped a sneak peek of the upcoming film, and it looks like the Force is very strong with this one.

Set after the events of The MandalorianSeason 3, this marks the first Star Wars movie since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker, and it’s shaping up to be something to be big, cinematic, and bursting with the kind of energy we’ve come to expect from Mando and his adorable, Force-wielding companion.

Jon Favreau, who’s writing and directing the film, took the stage alongside producer Dave Filoni and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy to unveil the footage.

It kicks off inside the belly of an AT-AT. We follow soldiers prepping for battle, the camera panning through the chaos... until the back door blows open.

Enter Din Djarin.

We see him tear through troopers… blasting, flame-throwing, wire-whipping with pure tactical mayhem. Twelve troopers down, the shot ends on their commander, who can only gulp.

Then: boom. That whole AT-AT (one of three, now with a redesigned, bug-like appearance) explodes and tumbles off a snowy cliff. The other two walkers march on.

It then cuts to Sigourney Weaver as a New Republic leader. She dryly mutters, “Messy. Very messy.” She’s seated at a table with Mando and Grogu, and while she talks, Grogu tries to swipe her snacks. That’s our little guy.

“You work for us,” Weaver says, as shots flash of Razor Crest-style flight scenes, a brief glimpse of Zeb from Star Wars Rebels, and Mando investigating a creepy, dark corridor where he uncovers a fallen droid with his helmet light.

Other standout moments include a brutal bar fight, Grogu swimming, Mando and Grogu on a smaller walker running under AT-ATs, and a hilarious scene with a souped-up mouse droid on off-road wheels… Grogu stops it with the Force, it falls apart, and one of the wheels dramatically rolls away.

The final shot is a bulked-up Rotta the Hutt as a gladiator in a crowded arena, with Grogu smack in the middle of the crowd, casually munching on popcorn. It’s the kind of chaotic, absurd image that perfectly fits the evolving tone of the series.

Confirmed cast also includes Pedro Pascal, and Jeremy Allen White, with more likely to be revealed as we get closer.

The Mandalorian & Grogu hits theaters May 22, 2026. The footage has already leaked online, but we’ll hold off on sharing it until the official trailer drops. It’s easy to find if you want to watch it, though.

Until then… this looks like one wild trip to the Outer Rim.
