STREET FIGHTER Movie Teaser Trailer Promises a Full Tilt World Warrior Showdown
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantLegendary and Capcom surprised everyone at The Game Awards with the first teaser trailer for the new live action Street Fighter, and the quick glimpse of footage is already firing up longtime fans. I love the vibe and the energy in the trailer!
Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the movie arrives in theaters October 2026 and looks ready to embrace everything wild, stylish, and over the top that makes the iconic Capcom game franchise such a blast.
The story brings Ryu and Ken back together when Chun Li pulls them into the World Warrior Tournament, a setup that already promises some exciting character clashes and a fresh live action take on classic rivalries.
The film’s official synopsis reads: “Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury.
“But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don't, it's GAME OVER!”
What really sells the vibe is the cast. Noah Centineo steps in as Ken Masters, Andrew Koji takes on Ryu, Jason Momoa plays Blanka, Roman Reigns jumps in as Akuma, Callina Liang is Chun Li, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is Balrog.
It also features Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, David Dastmalchian channels M. Bison, Cody Rhodes shows up as Guile, Vidyut Jammwal is Dhalsim, Eric André plays Don Sauvage, Orville Peck is Vega, Olivier Richters is Zangief, Hirooki Goto plays E. Honda.
Then there’s Mel Jarnson is Cammy, and Rayna Vallandingham appears as Juli. It is a massive roster of fighters and personalities.
The screenplay comes from Dalan Musson, whose credits include Iron Sky The Coming Race and Captain America: Brave New World. Legendary and Capcom are producing.
If this teaser is any sign of what is coming, fans of the video game franchise may finally be getting the live action adaptation that leans into the energy, the spectacle, and the fun of the games.
Paramount releases Street Fighter in theaters October 16, 2026.
