Callum Tuerner Reportedly Cast as Next James Bond in BOND 26
by Joey Paur · GeekTyrantJames Bond is getting ready to jump back into action, and Callum Turner could be the guy slipping into the tuxedo. A new report claims the 36-year-old British actor has landed the coveted role of 007 in Bond 26, taking over from Daniel Craig.
Nothing has been officially announced, but there are a few interesting developments that suggest this casting rumor might actually be the real deal.
According to Roger Friedman at Showbiz411, Turner is the next James Bond. Friedman has some history with the franchise, having been among the first to report Craig's casting in 2005's Casino Royale. That gives his latest report a little more weight, although Amazon MGM Studios hasn't confirmed anything.
The timing is also interesting. Final screen tests took place over Halloween weekend, with Turner competing against several other actors for the role. Slow Horses star Jack Lowden was among the leading candidates, along with The Crown actor Josh O'Connor and a mysterious fourth contender whose identity has been kept under wraps.
Lowden had recently emerged as a favorite, but Turner has been connected to the part for months. He's best known for his performances in Fantastic Beasts and Masters of the Air, and he's already proven he can handle some intense situations. He survived a brutal siege alongside Patrick Stewart in Green Room and competed with Miles Teller for Elizabeth Olsen's affection in Eternity. Playing Bond would certainly take his career to another level.
There's also a curious development involving Turner's business interests. The actor recently resigned as a director of Twentytwo Films, the production company he co-founded in 2025 with his wife, pop superstar Dua Lipa.
That decision doesn't necessarily mean he's preparing to become James Bond, but the timing certainly raises some questions. Taking on 007 would be a massive commitment, potentially keeping Turner occupied with multiple films over the next decade. Stepping away from his responsibilities at the company could free him up for the demanding schedule.
Speaking of Dua Lipa, there's another possibility that could make this casting especially fun. Friedman suggested that she could perform the theme song for Bond 26.
Lipa already has some experience in the spy genre, having played a glamorous assassin opposite Henry Cavill in Matthew Vaughn's 2024 film Argylle.
Bond themes have a long history of attracting major musical talent, including Paul McCartney and Adele. Having the new James Bond's wife perform the song would be a franchise first, although there's currently no indication that Lipa has actually been approached for the gig.
As for Bond 26, it's going to be a major turning point for the long-running franchise. This will be the first installment made under Amazon MGM's creative control following its agreement with longtime Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.
Dune director Denis Villeneuve is taking charge of the new film, with Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight writing the screenplay. Amy Pascal and David Heyman are producing.
Whoever lands the role has some pretty big shoes to fill. Craig wrapped up his five-film run with 2021's No Time to Die, which shocked audiences by actually killing James Bond. It was something the franchise had avoided throughout its previous 24 official films.
If Turner gets the job, he'll become the seventh actor to portray the iconic MI6 agent in the official film series, following Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Craig.
For now, Turner remains an unconfirmed choice, but between Friedman's report, the recent screen tests, and the actor stepping away from his production company, there's enough here to take the possibility seriously.
After five years without a new Bond movie, it would be great to finally see this franchise moving forward. Turner could be a solid choice in the role.
What do you think? Would Callum Turner make a great James Bond, or were you hoping someone else would get the license to kill?
