Coronation Street fans floored as they work out where they've seen inmate Brie before
by Danni King, Katie Francis · PlymouthLiveIn Wednesday's episode of Coronation Street, viewers spotted a familiar face in scenes with Lauren Bolton. A new character, Brie, played by Jessica Ellis, 37, has arrived to stir up more trouble for Lauren.
The pair, both housed in the same area of the mother and baby unit, quickly clashed, leaving fans anticipating further drama for the young mum.
Viewers were delighted when they recognised Brie as actress Jessica Ellis, best known for her role as Tegan Lomax on Hollyoaks. Jessica was a regular on the soap from 2013 to 2018, appearing in an impressive 398 episodes. She is no stranger to the world of soaps, having also featured in a few episodes of EastEnders in 2011, and one episode of Doctors the same year.
As the scenes aired, fans took to social media to share their recognition of Brie. One viewer exclaimed: "TEGAN," while another excitedly declared: "ITS TEGAN.", reports the Mirror.
Other comments included: "Yayyy! Tegan Lomax. Another one off Hollyoaks," and simply: "Teagan Lomax."
Brie isn't the only new character involved in Lauren's storyline that fans may recognise. Coronation Street has also enlisted EastEnders star Samuel James, who is best known for his roles as Jimmie Broome on BBC One's EastEnders, and Garth Stubbs on Birds of a Feather.
The Sun reports that Samuel is set to join the cast of Coronation Street as solicitor Steven Poyser, who will play a pivotal role in an upcoming court case. An insider shared with the publication: "Samuel will appear on screen for a number of episodes in a guest role as Lauren's fate is finally revealed."
In related news, Max Turner's character is preparing to bid farewell to the ITV soap, with actor Paddy Bever leaving the role. Bever has completed filming his last scenes and is expected to make his final appearance on our screens in early spring.
The show's producers have been aware of Bever's decision to leave since March of the previous year, which gave them ample time to craft a compelling exit storyline for Max amidst significant upheaval for the Platt family in the near future. Speaking to The Mirror, he expressed: "After much reflection and in an incredibly difficult decision, I have chosen to step away from Max, and Coronation Street, to explore new opportunities."
He continued, "I have been surrounded by such kindness and support every step of the way. It's been a great privilege to contribute to the legacy of such a well-loved and iconic show. This chapter has been unforgettable and while I look forward to what lies ahead, I will treasure these memories."
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
