Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd drops major revelation about William Roache
by Angie Quinn · PlymouthLiveCoronation Street star Jack P. Shepherd has jokingly expressed his annoyance after his long-time co-star William Roache, also known as Bill, repeatedly makes the same mistake while on set.
Jack is famed for playing David Platt in the ITV soap, a role he has held since 2000 after bagging the now-famous role as a teenager.
Bill is Corrie's longest-serving star, having played Ken Barlow since the very first episode aired in December 1960. But despite appearing together in the programme for 25 years, it appears Bill can't separate Jack from his character.
During a conversation with fellow soap star Patsy Palmer, who plays Bianca on EastEnders, music star Chesney Hawks, TOWIE cast member Ella Wise, and actress Donna Preston, Jack confessed Bill calls him "David" while on the Corrie set.
While gathered in the bedroom, Patsy kicked off the conversation by sharing her admiration for Dot Cotton star June Brown, who worked on EastEnders until she was in her nineties.
This spurred Jack on to share that co-star Bill is 93 years old and proudly explained he had been working on Corrie for 65 years.
"While I've been in here, he could be dead", Jack joked as his housemates asked if he would be told about his death if it happened while he's in the Big Brother house.
"Would you find out?", Patsy asked as Jack confirmed: "No, why would I find out?"
Chesney chimed in: "Well, you have been working with him for 25 years."
"I've known him for 25 years and he still calls me David", Jack responded before he started laughing.
"Yeah he calls me David", Jack added: "He meets me in the corridor and I'm like 'morning Bill', and he goes 'ahh David'."
Donna stepped in and said, "Stop it", while Ella added, "That's so funny."
"Well, he is 93", Chesney chipped in.
