Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney's heartbreaking statement in tribute to Ricky Hatton

Tragic boxer Ricky Hatton's former partner Claire Sweeney has spoken out following the star's passing. The Coronation Street actress revealed she would forever cherish the 46-year-old, who was discovered deceased on Sunday.

Taking to Instagram, Claire posted a collection of photographs and clips from their relationship, with the Elvis song "If I can dream" in the background, reports BristolLive.

She wrote: "I've needed a few days to process the devastating news about my dear friend Ricky. My thoughts are with his family especially his children Campbell, Millie, Fearne and Lyla, his granddaughter.

"To them, Speaky and to all his friends who loved him so deeply and for so many years I send you my deepest sympathy. Ricky, you were the people's champ.

"We adored and cherished you. Love you always."

The boxer was discovered at his residence on Sunday with officers confirming the death is "not being treated as suspicious."

The pair had been acquainted for approximately 25 years prior to their romance blossoming during their participation in the ice skating show. She remarked at the time: "He makes me laugh".

They were photographed on numerous outings including a getaway to Mallorca.

Their romantic relationship ended in December 2024 though they maintained their friendship.
