THE FINAL EIGHT unaired episodes of a Friends spin-off that was cancelled is now available to watch online.

The hit show Friends ran for ten seasons from 1994 to 2004, starring Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and the late Matthew Perry.

LeBlanc played Joey Tribbiani and after the Friends finale, he signed on for a spin-off series titled ‘Joey’ that premiered on NBC in September 2004.

Joey followed LeBlanc’s character from New York to Los Angeles, where the character was pursuing an acting career.

The first episode of Joey was well-watched, but viewing figures decreased thereafter.

NBC cancelled the series due to low ratings less than two years later and decided not to broadcast the final eight episodes of the second series.

Kevin S. Bright was one of the executive producers of both Friends and Joey and remarked that in the spin-off, the character of Joey was transformed from a “solid friend and a guy you knew you could count on” to a “pathetic, mopey character”.

“Joey was deconstructed to be a guy who couldn’t get a job, couldn’t ask a girl out,” said Bright. “I felt he was moving in the wrong direction, but I was not heard.”

But almost 20 years later, the final eight unaired episodes are now available to watch on the Friends YouTube channel.

The Friends YouTube channel began posting full episodes of Joey in March and three weeks ago, it aired the first of eight never-before-seen episodes from after the show was cancelled.

The final two unaired episodes were uploaded to YouTube yesterday.

While these eight episodes remained unaired by NBC in the US, they were broadcast on some other networks internationally.
