Elden Ring Tarnished Edition launches for Switch 2 in August
by Stefan L · tsaThe Nintendo Switch 2 port of Elden Ring will launch on 28th August, with the Elden Ring Tarnished Edition featuring the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, as well as some bonus content that will be released for all platforms.
The new content launching alongside Elden Ring Tarnished Edition includes two new starting classes, new armour and the ability to customise Torrent, you spectral horse. While bundled in with the Tarnished Edition for Switch 2, it will be available to purchase separately for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Elden Ring was the smash hit of 2022, both critically and commercially, taking the increasingly popular Soulslike genre that FromSoftware pioneered and expanding it to a broader open world with much more player freedom to explore.
We scored Elden Ring a mighty 10/10 at launch, with Jason saying, “Elden Ring is the game Souls fans have been waiting for. From the open world design, to riding into battle on Torrent’s back, and the dark narrative woven through the world, this is a clear Game of the Year frontrunner that will have us all ensnared for a long time to come.”
He wasn’t quite so positive about the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion that followed 18 months later, but it still provided a bunch of additional fights and places to explore.
Elden Ring isn’t the only FromSoftware game coming to Switch 2, with The Duskbloods being exclusive to the Nintendo handheld and having been announced as part of its reveal. The Duskbloods looks to delve into a gothic British feel and explore the vampiric mythos to an extent, but those wanting Bloodborne 2 might be a tad disappointed here, as it’s a multiplayer game. The Duskbloods is a PvPvE title where up to eight players compete for surpremacy amongst themselves and against the world’s enemies.
