Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.1 will launch on 25th March

HoYoverse has taken the lid off the Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.1 update, titled “Unraveled for Daybreak”, which will launch on 25th March 2026 with the next chapter in the Planarcadia Story.

Version 4.1 will make Ashveil a playable companion character for the first time as a limited 5-star character, while other limited 5-star characters Hyacine and Boothill will also be appearing in Warp events for the first and second half over this version respectively.

Ashveil is a “detective unreliable”, typically represented as a lazy and relaxed kind of character, who’s going to get their act together after the events from the last version. There’s a conspiracy to unravel behind the Phantasmoon Games, working alongside the Astral Express Crew.

Spurring Ashveil on is the thrill of the chase, which is embodied in combat. Using his Technique during Map Exploration can inflict Stunned on enemies within range, and in combat he boosts the crit damage of allies, and can select an enemy to become the ‘Bait’, which in turn reduces the defence of all enemies. There’s plenty more layers to his abilities – unleashing follow-up attacks on the Bait, building up and consuming ‘Gluttony’ and more – but Bair debuff alone should make Ashveil a powerful ally.

I’ll be honest, I’ve not been keeping up on the Honkai: Star Rail story, so I’m going to have to lean on the press release for a bit of catch up:

In the Planarcadia Story thus far, the Trailblazer scored a mask to enter the Phantasmoon Games and successfully defeated the notorious streamer Sparxie, who was trying to stir up chaos, becoming the absolute focus of the arcadia. To allow more of the arcadia’s citizens to experience the unique charm of the Trailblaze, Planarcadia’s CEO, Pearl, teamed up with the Express Crew to host a spectacular expo themed around the Astral Express’s adventures: Star Rail FEST. As this dazzling exhibition gears up for its grand opening, the fierce competition of the Phantasmoon Games is still in full swing. The war between the Supplicants is at a flashpoint, and the ongoing power struggle between factions is intimately shaping how the story unfolds.

Atypically, Version 4.1 will be a shorter story beat for Honkai: Star Rail. Instead of lasting six weeks, it will run for four weeks, affecting the structure of the first and second halves, but hopefully this implies that Version 4.2 is a bigger update.
