‘M3GAN 2.0’ trailer: Taller, stronger, faster Megan returns to take on an evil android

‘M3GAN 2.0’ is set to release in theatres on June 27

The murderous doll is back, and how! Universal Pictures on Friday unveiled the trailer for the much-awaited sequel to M3GAN, titled M3GAN 2.0.

In the trailer, we see the aftereffects of M3GAN’s rampage after two years. Gemma (Allison Williams) has become a high-profile author and advocate for government oversight of A.I., while her niece Cady (Violet McGraw) is now a rebellious teenager. Gemma has imprisoned M3GAN in a teletugby-like body.

As it is soon revealed, Gemma’s model for M3GAN is stolen to create a military-grade weapon called Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno), who, as expected, goes rogue. “With the future of human existence on the line, Gemma realizes that the only option is to resurrect M3GAN (Amie Donald, voiced by Jenna Davis) and give her a few upgrades, making her faster, stronger, and more lethal. As their paths collide, the original A.I icon is about to meet her match,” reads the logline

M3GAN 2.0 is written and directed by acclaimed returning filmmaker Gerard Johnstone from a story he wrote with Akela Cooper. The film also features returning cast members Brian Jordan Alvarez and Jen Van Epps, alongside new entrants Aristotle Athari, Timm Sharp and Jemaine Clement.

Horror legend James Wan (who also created the characters with Akela Cooper) returns to produce the film for Atomic Monster, along with Jason Blum for Blumhouse and Allison Williams. M3GAN 2.0 releases in theatres on June 27.
