‘Idli Kadai’: Dhanush’s directorial averts clash with Ajith Kumar’s ‘Good Bad Ugly’, gets new release date,

The highly-anticipated Tamil movie ‘Idli Kadai’, directed by Dhanush, also stars Nithya Menen and Arun Vijay in prominent roles

Idli Kadai, the fourth directorial of actor Dhanush, has got a new release date. The highly-anticipated Tamil movie was earlier scheduled to release on April 10, 2025.

The film was set to clash with Ajith Kumar’s movie Good Bad Ugly at the box office. The makers of Idli Kadai have averted the clash and announced a new date. The movie, produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films in association with Aakash Baskaran’s Dawn Pictures, will hit the screens on October 1, 2025.

Idli Kadai stars Nithya Menen and Arun Vijay in prominent roles. Nithya Menen is reuniting with Dhanush after their hit movie Thiruchitrambalam (2022). With music scored by GV Prakash Kumar, the film has cinematography by Kiran Koushik and editing by Prasanna GK.

The makers have so far released posters of the movie. One of the posters featured Dhanush, in a rural look, with idli containers, while the other features him as a young boy next to actor Rajkiran, who starred in the lead in Dhanush’s directorial debut, Pa Paandi. In one of the posters, Arun Vijay is seen inside a boxing ring with Dhanush.

Meanwhile, Dhanush’s third directorial, Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam (NEEK), hit the screens on February 21, 2025. The coming-of-age romantic drama involving an ensemble cast received mixed reviews from critics and fans alike. The Hindu review said, “NEEK might be Dhanush’s weakest directorial but has enough to show glimpses of his prowess as a filmmaker and given that his next as a director is titled Idly Kadai, let’s hope he’s cooking something more appetising.”
