Coronation Street's David Platt actor declares love for co-star in three-word message as 'hate' uncovered
by Jessica Sansome · Manchester Evening NewsCoronation Street star Jack P Shepherd declared his love for his co-star as he shared a string of unseen photos from Helen Worth's final scenes in the show.
The actor, famed for playing David Platt in the ITV soap, remained a man of few words as he reacted to Helen's final episode airing on Christmas Day (December 25) after 50 years of playing his on-screen mother Gail Platt.
The actress was seen bowing out of the ITV soap after recently celebrating five decades in the role. Her final scenes showed Gail leaving Weatherfield for a new life in the south of France having married her sixth husband Jesse Chadwick - in her seventh wedding during her time on the famous street.
Her wedding day didn't start too well after Gail was left questioning whether to tie the knot once more, thanks to her family's interference and never-ending chaos. But after being visited by her late ex and serial killer Richard Hillman in her pre-wedding nightmare, Gail realised she didn't want to let Jesse go.
After a messy start to the nuptials, in which Gail's eldest son Nick was arrested for fraud and her mother Audrey was almost uninvited from the special day, the Platt matriarch finally said 'I Do' before receiving a string of emotional messages from her children and her neighbours,
Helen's final episode as Gail then ended with the much-loved character disappearing into the sunset, leaving her family behind. As the newlyweds drove off to begin their new chapter, Jesse asked Gail: "Are you ready Mrs Chadwick?" She replied: "Ready as I'll ever be, Mr Chadwick," as her family waved goodbye from outside No.8 Coronation Street.
Following the scenes, Jack took to Instagram with a string of behind-the-scenes photos from the filming of Gail's wedding including selfies and a last snap of all the Platts together in their now-famous on-screen home. There were also photos from Helen's farewell meal with just her on-screen family at a restaurant in Manchester.

Alongsdie the post, Jack simply wrote: "Love you Helen," before the messages came flooding in. While many reacted to Helen's exit, others were quick to praise Jack's performance during the Christmas episode of Corrie, in which he was seen getting emotional as David during a one-to-one with Gail before later delivering a best man's speech.
Co-star Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Habeeb in Corrie, commented on Jack's post: "You smashed it tonight Jack. I know you hate compliments but it’s fact," to which he simply responded with a couple of face surrounded by hearts emojis. Former co-star and Hollyoaks actress Nikki Sanderson also replied: "This is incredible… as is Helen. An iconic woman who will be remembered forever."
