Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left 'in tears' as Aljaz Skorjanec's comments during his latest performance were 'uncovered'. The professional dancer had quite the weekend in the ballroom as he returned alongside celebrity dance partner Tasha Ghouri.

During week ten of the BBC One dance contest, which took place on Saturday night (November 23), the pair bagged the first perfect score of the 2024 series.

Tasha and Aljaz performed an elegant American Smooth, which they dedicated to Aljaz's one-year-old daughter, Lyra Rose, who he shares with former Strictly pro and It Takes Two host Janette Manrara.

Former Love Island star Tasha, who is the show’s second-ever deaf contestant, performed a series of high lifts and dips during their dance to Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi to secure the top score of 40.

Head judge Shirley Ballas praised it as the "Rolls-Royce" of the American Smooth while Craig Revel Horwood described it as "fab-u-lous". Motsi Mabuse hailed it as "perfection" and said Tasha had brought the poignant song to life. Anton Du Beke, who got emotional during the performance, added that this is why dancers perform because of "how it makes us feel".

They then had to take part in the Dance-A-Thon which the seven remaining couples perform the Samba simultaneously while the judges looked on and eliminated the pairings one by one before they were left with two. Tasha picked up an additional six points as she was voted runner-up behind JLS star JB Gill, who was named the winner of the dance, landing seven points, which meant they both finished joint top of the overall leaderboard.

But days on from their beautiful performance, and after confirmation they made it through to the quarter-finals of Strictly's 20th-anniversary series, it's been revealed when the pair were saying to each other during their last routine via the hidden mics the contestants and their professional dance partners are wearing when they take to the dance floor. "Week 10 brought us the glitz, the glam, and of course... the hidden mics! #Strictly," the caption of the post on Instagram read.

At the start of their routine, Aljaz can be heard repeating: "For Lyra," and at the end of their performance as they embraced, Aljaz said it again and it was repeated by Tasha.

Responding to the clip, @zoeritter18 said: "Aww 'For Lyra'." @beckalou90 commented: "'For Lyra' [faces holding back tears emoji] @aljazskorjanec @tashaghouri how beautiful." @ryestar4 wrote: "Oh my god… 'For Lyra'." @shirleighshirlz added: "FOR LYRA [crying face emoji] @tashaghouri @aljazskorjanec."

It comes after Aljaz took to Instagram and revealed the tribute to Lyra. Alongside pictures he wrote: "THANK YOU BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE for all the votes and countless messages of love for our dance on Saturday! For those asking.. No, the lights in the heart didn’t break. They were shaped in Lyra’s constellation..

"Creating this American smooth has been one of the biggest joys on @bbcstrictly for me.. Just thinking about the weekend puts a tear in my eye and a smile on my face! @tashaghouri I am losing words to describe how thankful and proud I am of you! Let’s SMASH the Musicals week now partner! We are going from my favourite to yours. ARGENTINE TANGO!"
