Paddy McGuinness 'in bits' after Peter Kay's message to star on Children in Need bike ride
by Adam Maidment · Manchester Evening NewsPaddy McGuinness has received a message of support from another top celebrity as he continues on with his charity cycle ride this week.
The Bolton TV star is currently making the 300-mile journey from Wrexham AFC to Glasgow on a Raleigh Chopper as part of his Ultra Endurance Cycle Challenge for Children in Need.
The 51-year-old broke down in tears on Wednesday morning (November 13) as BBC Radio 2 host Zoe Ball revealed to him that his efforts had led to more than £1m in donations - and, in the 24 hours since, the total has now surpassed more than £3m.

Appearing again on Zoe Ball’s breakfast show this morning, Paddy said: “We’re just starting the day off and we’re over £3 million... Wow, I keep saying this because it’s the strangest thing, I’m absolutely in bits physically and emotionally but I will miss this, I will miss this positivity, this feeling of love that everyone’s getting behind Children in Need.”
Whilst talking to Zoe, the presenter also shared a number of messages of support from friends and family, as well as fellow Bolton comedian Peter Kay. Initially breaking out into a rendition of the theme tune to the pair’s The Road To Nowhere, the Phoenix Nights creator told Paddy: “Hello Patrick, my old pal.

“Keep peddling, keep thinking about all those children you’re helping by riding that chopper. A chopper! What were you thinking? You didn’t even have a chopper when we were at school. I love ya, I’m proud of you, son. You can do it. Get across that finish line and get yourself a nice garlic bread. This is the way to Glasgow-rilla!”
Breaking out into fits of laughter following the message, Paddy told Zoe: “He peps me up, that lad. That’s brilliant. Aww, that’s lovely, thank you. He sent it in - he’ll probably invoice you for it, knowing him.”
Today marks day four of Paddy’s challenge and, by all accounts, is set to be one of the toughest. Beginning in Ecclefechan, and making his way through Dumfriesshire and into Lanarkshire, he will cycle 64 miles across 12 hours where he will reach Strathaven this evening.
With a total of £3,348,481 raised so far, Paddy is set to reach Glasgow tomorrow morning before heading back to Salford to appear during BBC One’s Children in Need show.

Speaking about it, Paddy added: “Do you know, we’ve got all day to go, the people in Scotland are amazing already, the people all across the rest of the country are still donating and I want who’s anyone in Scotland, tomorrow, and we are going to get to Glasgow, by hook or by crook, I’ll drag the bike and walk if I have to.
“I want as many in Glasgow because together people, all involved in this, you will leave a better person, you’ll feel that love. Come along tomorrow in Glasgow and let’s go out in style!”
