BBC Strictly Come Dancing star responds to split from fellow pro in awkward TV quizzing

Nadiya Bychkova has spoken out on her split from her Strictly Come Dancing co-star Kai Widdrington as she was quizzed on their former relationship during a new TV appearance.

The dancer has previously spoken about the end of the relationship after the couple quietly went their separate ways. Last year, she revealed things are still frosty between her and her ex, who began dating in 2022 and earlier in 2024, ahead of returning to the BBC One dance content for the most recent series.

Nadiya shares seven-year-old daughter Mila with her former fiancé, Slovenian footballer Matija Skarabot and her relationship with Kai was her first romance since she split from the father of her child.

Appearing on Loose Women on Thursday (January 9) to chat about her upcoming solo tour, she said of her and Kai's split: "Well I don't think any break up is easy but we are professionals so we obviously knew we would have to go back on Strictly and work together and that's what we did."

She added: "In life it's about how you're dealing with things. There's so much thrown at us and you need to deal with things. Maybe at some point we'll be able to talk more about things but right now it's all about the tour."

But Nadiya then appeared to encourage fans to come and ask for the full story of their split as she said with a smile: "As well, on my tour audience will get to ask me questions. So maybe someone will want to come and ask the question."

When previously asked about the break up and if they were friends, professional dancer Nadiya confirmed: "We are not friends". She elaborated: "We work together but we are not friends and that's ok. One thing I can tell you is that when you see me dancing with him it will be amazing because I'm a professional," before she declined to comment further on their break up, reports the Mirror.
