Rylan Clark's heartfelt comment to BBC co-star as he issues love life update
by Samantha Masters · Manchester Evening NewsRylan Clark's good friend and Eurovision co-star Scott Mills has shared what his fellow presenter "needs" in his love life.
Last year, the BBC Radio 2 presenter married the love of his life, Sam Vaughan, who he met in his 40s.
According to Scott, Rylan, 36, is a huge fan of their relationship and has told him he wants his own Sam one day.
Speaking to Notebook Magazine, the presenter said: "Rylan needs to find his version of Sam because that's what he needs.
"Sometimes Rylan is like, 'Oh, I wish I had someone like Sam' and it's like, 'Hey, you have got all the time in the world'. I know deep down he would love to find somebody."
Reflecting on his own love life, Scott, 52, went on to say it "took a long time" for him to find the one, adding: "It's worth it in the end."
Rylan's last public relationship was with his ex husband Dan Neal, who he was married to from 2015 to 2021.
In his 2022 memoir Ten: The Decade That Changed My Future, he admitted it was infidelity from him that sparked their split.
"I have no excuses for what I did way back then, but I had my reasons," he wrote.
"I think for many years I had felt a bit like an imposter. That nothing I was doing was right or not quite good enough."
Since then, the former X Factor star has been dated, though has not publicly confirmed anything official with a love interest.
Earlier this week however, Rylan seemingly dropped a hint about his love life.
Speaking to his BBC Radio 2 co-star Zoe Ball, he confirmed he was no longer using dating apps.
"I'm not on the apps no more," Rylan said. "I've come off all the apps and I'm alright."
In response, Zoe said: "You've got a twinkle in your eye. I know you always have a twinkle in your eye, but that's a particularly big one."
Seemingly wanting to change the subject, Rylan jokingly said that it might just be a stye.
Their humorous exchange comes after he set the record straight about romance rumours surrounding him and his co-star Rob Rinder.
Speaking on Jessie and Lennie Ware's Table Manners podcast last year, he said: "I find it funny because I adore him, but we are like a married couple, we row all the time and we don't have sex."
In a YouTube Q&A in November 2024, Rylan said he was "very single" and "pretty content" on his own.
"Don't get me wrong I wouldn't mind one [a partner]," he shared.
"I'm pretty content on my own, I'm quite a busy boy. I know I keep moaning that I'm single, but it's actually quite nice to do what I want, when I want where I want, with who I want."
