Coronation Street star Colson Smith supported as 'big news' confirmed with two co-stars amid soap exit
by Jessica Sansome · Manchester Evening NewsCoronation Street star Colson Smith has been supported by fans as his next huge move has been revealed - and it's with two of his co-stars.
Fans of the actor will now know that he'll seen be leaving the cobbles behind as his time playing Craig Tinker in the ITV soap will come to an end early this year.
He confirmed earlier this month that as he prepares to mark 14 years in Weatherfield this summer, his time as his policing alter-ego is set to come to an end after soap chiefs told him his character had reached the end of the road.
In a social media post, shared to X and Instagram alongside a picture of himself portraying Craig as a police officer, he announced: "Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinker's time on the Cobbles is to come to end in 2025. I've loved every single second of my 14 year stay as a resident on the greatest street in the world."
The 26-year-old added: "I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in, on and around Coronation Street. I've learned pretty much everything about life from the people who call it home. I’m excited to play out the exit story for Our Craigy."
But, there are two Corrie stars in particular who won't be able to get away from him that easily as Colson, Jack P Shepherd and Ben Price host the On the Sofa podcast which hears them chat about their lives, work and everything in-between.
Now, they're once again set to take their podcast to the stage having previously hosting sold-out shows in London and Manchester. Confirming the news on the On the Sofa Instagram page, a message read: "ON THE SOFA LIVE IS COMING TO LEEDS!

"Big news, as the live show returns on Friday 7th March... and we’re in LEEDS! In partnership with our friends at @visitleeds it’ll be our biggest and best live show yet. We’re in God’s Own Country for ONE NIGHT ONLY. It’s a Yorkshire homecoming for Colson and Jack... and Ben will be there as well.
"Our first live show in nearly a year, this isn’t a podcast recording, but a proper live show for you all! There’ll be films and all sorts of nonsense for ONE NIGHT ONLY..."
Colson was quick to respond to the post as he cheered: "LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS," while Emmerdale actor Danny Miller showed his support by responding: "I’ll see you there."
Fans were also delighted with the news. @yorkshire_trends.taste.travel said: "We will be there." @kevsieboy commented: "Exciting!!!" @jodev68 replied: "We will welcome Ben to Gods own country." @nancyhovhanesian added: "Wonderful."
