SAS Rogue Heroes season 2 release date, cast details, and what to expect from the new series

by · Manchester Evening News

The BBC One series SAS Rogue Heroes is back for another series. The new season begins with Paddy Mayne, played by Jack O'Connell, taking charge while David Stirling, played by Connor Swindells, is being held captive.

Paddy's unorthodox leadership style keeps the regiment on their toes. Creator Steven Knight said: "Paddy is the one that punches the commanding officer, rather than being the commanding officer."

Knight was drawn to Paddy's character, saying: "What intrigued me throughout reading the history was how Paddy handled that, and he did manage it in an extraordinary and different way. I wanted Paddy front and centre, to examine his character, not gloss over some of the flaws and understand as I think with all of the men actually that they were chosen by war."

The new series sees the regiment facing challenges, including the formation of a new unit and an influx of new recruits. The men must prove that the SAS is still crucial to the war effort.

Here's what you need to know about the new series.

The series starts on New Year's Day, January 1, at 9pm on BBC One. The entire season will be available on BBC iPlayer from 6am that day for fans who want to binge-watch.
