Coronation Street fans baffled by Gail Platt detail as co-star says 'I'll really miss her' in sweet tribute
by Jessica Sansome · Manchester Evening NewsCoronation Street fans were left baffled when one of Helen Worth's co-stars paid tribute following her exit after 50 years on the cobbles.
The actress was seen bowing out of the ITV soap after five decades on Christmas Day (December 25) as Gail Platt left Weatherfield for a new life in the south of France having married her sixth husband Jesse Chadwick - in her seventh wedding during her time on the famous street.
Her wedding day didn't start too well after Gail was left questioning whether to tie the knot once more, thanks to her family's interference and never-ending chaos. But after being visited by her late ex and serial killer Richard Hillman in her pre-wedding nightmare, Gail realised she didn't want to let Jesse go.
After a messy start to the nuptials, in which Gail's eldest son Nick was arrested for fraud and her mother Audrey was almost uninvited from the special day, the Platt matriarch finally said 'I Do' before receiving a string of emotional messages from her children and her neighbours,
Helen's final episode as Gail then ended with the much-loved character disappearing into the sunset, leaving her family behind. As the newlyweds drove off to begin their new chapter, Jesse asked Gail: "Are you ready Mrs Chadwick?" She replied: "Ready as I'll ever be, Mr Chadwick," as her family waved goodbye from outside No.8 Coronation Street.
Following the episode, Jude Riordan, who plays Gail's grandson Sam Blakeman, took to Instagram with a sweet picture of the pair taken behind the scenes amid filming for the wedding, with Helen seen sporting her classic all-white outfit and Jude appearing dapper in a beige suit.

Alongisde the sweet snap, the young actor wrote: "Granny Gail. Helen is one of the kindest human beings I've ever worked with. She was lovely to me from my very first day. Lots of chats, lots of laughs, I'll really miss her. A true icon that I was lucky enough to work with and have as my telly Gran."
But some Corrie fans couldn't help but spot the similarity in height between the two actors. @learnhowtophotograph said: "Lovely photo jude - it’s hard to get a perspective of height on tv, this is so good , haha not surprised there weren’t many scenes (or any) of Gail and kit. The cameras wouldn’t have been able to fit both in - good luck Helen thank you."
Jude the replied: "Lots are quite little actually apart from @_jacob.roberts who is a giant." Jacob, who plays DC Kit Green, saw the funny side and added: "I’m waiting for our scene together @justjude7." @krissmgvlogs also commented: "Is he tall or she small, either way, bye Gail, you will be missed," to which Jude replied: "I'm 5 foot 2," with a crying laughing face emoji.
