SAG-AFTRA has cancelled the live announcement for nominations due to the terrifying wildfires tearing through LA .

The 2025 SAG Awards were supposed to be announced via livestream on Wednesday morning but will now be confirmed via a press release shared on the official SAG Awards website.

The Guild confirmed on Tuesday: “In an abundance of caution for the safety of our presenters, guests, and staff, the live in-person 31st Annual SAG Awards nominations announcement has been cancelled due to the wildfires and adverse wind conditions in Los Angeles. Nominees will be unveiled tomorrow at 7:30am PT via press release and the SAG Awards website. We look forward to celebrating these incredible actors and their work at the SAG Awards ceremony on February 23. In the meantime, we urge everyone to stay safe, and thank you for your continued support.”

In the last few hours, orders were issued for parts of Santa Monica to be evacuated as flames tore through the LA coast. A massive 1,200-acre brush fire also broke out in celebrity enclave the Palisades on Tuesday morning.

Among the victims were Heidi and Spencer Pratt, whose home burned down. Thankfully, the couple, famous for their roles in The Hills, and their entire family managed to evacuate their home safely earlier in the day. Before the evacuation began, Spencer shared a video on his Instagram Stories showing fire officials attempting to control the blaze by dropping water from above onto the nearby mountainside.

He was seen outside his home, visibly upset by the spreading fire. Actor James Woods also captured footage of the raging flames from his home in the same threatened neighbourhood.

His video showed firefighters working tirelessly, dropping water on the area. The Getty Villa Museum was reported to be 'on fire' as the Pacific Palisades blaze continued its destructive path across LA.

Homes of other celebrities including Tom Hanks and Reese Witherspoon were also under threat from the blazing fire, with residents trapped, reports the Mirror US . Other A-listers residing in the area alongside Spencer and Heidi include Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Miles Teller and his wife Keleigh, Reese Witherspoon, Adam Sandler, Steve Guttenberg, and Michael Keaton. Later on Tuesday, California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency for Ventura and Los Angeles counties due to the ongoing fire in the Pacific Palisades.

And the live SAG Awards announcement isn’t the only entertainment industry event hit by the wildfires. On Tuesday night, a West Hollywood event for last year’s Saturday Night film was called off, as were premieres for Universal’s new flick Wolf Man at Hollywood’s TCL Chinese Theatre and premieres for Max’s medical drama The Pitt and Paramount’s Better Man.
