Amanda Holden opened up about spotting trouble in her relationship with Les Dennis from the moment they first got together.

The Britain's Got Talent judge married the former Coronation Street actor in 1995 and the pair were together for eight years before divorcing.

And Amanda, who'll be on our screens tonight for Amanda & Alan's Spanish Job, admitted in her 2013 autobiography No Holding Back she noticed warning signs early on.

Writing about her relationship, she described feeling exposed to a new level of attention, saying: "From day one, though, I felt as if no one else understood and that all eyes were on me for being with him."

Reliving her relatively low-profile existence before Les, Amanda talked about the challenges she faced adapting to life with a celebrity already cosy in the limelight.

"Les was a successful family entertainer and well liked by the public," she wrote. "As well as appearing in prime-time TV shows, and end-of-the-pier farces, he'd been on the Christmas pantomime circuit for years.

"Everyone seemed to love him and he was often recognised in the street. I'd never experienced fame before."

Their paths crossed during a stage production of The Sound of Music at Bournemouth's Pavilion Theatre, where the chemistry led to a few dates before they walked down the aisle in June 1995.

The marriage was rocked in 2000 after Amanda had a highly publicised affair with actor Neil Morrissey, while they worked on the BBC drama Happy Birthday Shakespeare. She and Les spent some time apart before finally divorcing in 2003.

Both have since found new love – Les met his current wife, Claire Nicholson, in 2005 and they later tied the knot and welcomed two children, reports Bristol Live.

Meanwhile, Amanda married record producer Chris Hughes in 2008 and they have two children together, Alexa "Lexi" Louise Florence and Hollie Rose.

In addition to her personal life, Amanda has made a name for herself in the broadcasting industry over the past two decades, not just by appearing on Britain's Got Talent but also hosting This Morning and the Heart breakfast show with Jamie Theakston.

She returns to the small screen tonight with Amanda & Alan's Spanish Job, joining comedian Alan Carr as they aim to renovate rundown properties in southern Spain.

Amanda & Alan's Spanish Job returns tonight (March 14) at 8.30pm on BBC One
