I'm A Celeb's Alan Halsall's famous Corrie ex Lucy-Jo Hudson bags role on rival soap
Alan Halsall and Lucy-Jo Hudson tied the knot after meeting on Coronation Street, but Lucy-Jo is now making her first-ever appearance on a rival BBC show
by Katie Francis · The MirrorAlan Halsall, 42, might be busy on Get Me Out of Here, but his ex is making moves of her own while he’s in the jungle.
Lucy-Jo Hudson, 41, rose to fame playing Katy Harris on Coronation Street, while Alan played Tyrone Dobbs. The duo met on set among the famous cobbles, and started dating in 2005, going on to tie the knot in 2009. Now, though, there’s no love lost between the pair.
While Alan’s courting the public on I’m a Celeb, Lucy-Jo’s latest career news gives her an opportunity to outdo him. The actress has been cast in the Christmas Special episode of BBC mainstay Casualty, according to the Daily Mail.
The festive special is titled All I Want For Christmas, and will centre around how a blood shortage over Christmas impacts the patients and beloved staff of the hospital. Ultimately, the Casualty regulars have to donate their own blood in order to save lives over the holidays.
"The Christmas special will celebrate the gift of giving and will be told in an innovative, format-breaking way. Further details will be revealed in due course,” the BBC teasingly shared.
It hasn’t been confirmed exactly what role Lucy-Jo will be playing, but the BBC hinted that the special will include plenty of twists and turns, and plenty of new faces.
Meanwhile, Alan opened up about his love life since his infamous split from Lucy-Jo while bonding with his campmates on I’m a Celeb. The group got talking about online dating, and Alan admitted he’d never used a dating app before. “I’ve never done dating apps, I don’t even know what I’d do!” he spilled, with N-Dubz star Tulisa agreeing, “I’m not really a dater, even though I’ve been on [Raya], I’ve never gone on an actual date with anyone on there… I’m proper guarded."
Some fans quickly took to Twitter to suggest that the duo might have more in common than their aversion to dating apps, and hinted that they could see sparks through their TV screens.
"Tulisa & Alan, a new couple?!....(stranger things have happened! ) #ImACeleb." one person wrote, with a second agreeing, "Guys I’m rooting for the Tulisa & Alan love story #ImACeleb."
Alan seems to have stayed single since his dramatic split from Lucy-Jo. After getting married, they welcomed a daughter, Sienna-Rae, in September 2013. In March 2016, however, they announced that they were separating, but ultimately stuck together for a while longer before ending things for good in May 2018.
Lucy-Jo has gone on to welcome another child, son Carter, whom she shares with her new partner Lewis Devine. Just days after she gave birth to the baby boy, Alan seemed to share his displeasure with her and Lewis with a cryptic yet furious comment. "You’re welcome to keep the lying cheating one and call her your own! But not my daughter,” he raged on Instagram before deleting the comment. According to some insiders, the exes don’t speak despite sharing a daughter.
