Lily Allen makes very telling comment about 'solo Christmas' amid David Harbour split rumours
British singer Lily Allen has hinted her Christmas plans saw a last minute change and may result in a solo celebration following rumours she has split from husband David Harbour
by Lillie Rohan · The MirrorLily Allen 's Christmas Day plans look rather different from last year's following split rumours.
The British musician, who has been married to Stranger Things actor David Harbour for five years, might be getting ready for a solo festive day following claims she and the star have parted ways. Rumours first began circulating after a profile believed to belong to Lily, 39, was spotted on Raya, a popular celebrity dating app.
Now she appears to be adding fuel to the fire, with the Fear singer suggesting on her BBC Sounds podcast, Miss Me?, which she hosts with her friend, Miquita Oliver, that she is spending Christmas alone. In a video clip from the festive-themed episode, Lily's left hand was noticeably missing her wedding band, and things took an even more suspicious turn when she suggested her plans had seen a last-minute change.
While Lily usually spends Christmas in New York with her two children, Ethel, 13 and Marnie, 11, whom she shared with her ex-husband Sam Cooper, this year she said she will be flying from the US to London before heading onto Nairobi in Kenya. She suggested the decision was last minute after explaining she scrambled to text her New York based cousin, who is looking after her children, about a family tradition: "Every year I buy four tickets to go and see the Nutcracker at the Lincoln Centre and I have completely forgotten that I have these tickets so they're going to have to go without me tonight," she said.
Miquita then stumbled over her words as she asked Lily: "Have you done – 'cause now you have your own family – do you do Christmas dinner on your own?" The question appeared to insinuate that the singer is going to be alone this year, with Lily replying: "I haven't done that yet. Maybe once. I love cooking, I love prep – it's very therapeutic."
Lily has not explicitly said whether she and David have split. However, her alleged Raya profile first appeared on the app last week and showed up for users who have told the app they are women interested in dating other women. It's not clear what preferences Lily's profile had set or whether she was looking for love or friendship.
Her alleged bio reads: "Looking for someone to start couples therapy with," while she also is said to have indicated that she is "visiting Los Angeles from New York ". It comes after she told podcast listeners she was "bored of men."
The pop star is no stranger to the app after revealing that's where she met her husband, David, in 2019. "It was the first time I'd been on this dating app. I was scrolling through and landed on David's profile and pressed accept," she said on The Jonathan Ross Show last year. "I didn't know who he was. I thought he was just like a sexy policeman from a reality TV show. He was wearing a policeman's uniform. It was a still from Stranger Things. I'd never seen Stranger Things."
She added: "I don't even know what I was looking for. It was just something to do on holiday, swiping, it's a bit of fun. When I met him, I didn't think it was going to go anywhere. He was here filming Black Widow. He was only going to be here for a couple of months. And then it did (go somewhere)."
Lily and David went on to marry in 2020, with a Las Vegas nuptials complete with an Elvis Presley impersonator who officiated their wedding.
