ITV The Masked Singer Pufferfish identity 'uncovered' after telling clue
Fans of ITV's The Masked Singer are convinced they have worked out which celebrity is behind Pufferfish, after piecing together many of the clues provided on the show
by Danni King · The MirrorThe fifth series of The Masked Singer has kicked off on ITV and viewers are once again hooked on the hit show. Joel Dommett is back on hosting duties, while the judging panel is made up of Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, Jonathan Ross and Maya Jama this time round.
The first episode saw Olympian Mo Farah appear as a guest judge, with the panel watching performances by the likes of Dressed Crab, Spag Bol, Snail, Tattoo, Teeth and King Fisher. Belting out Chappell Roan track Good Luck, Babe! was Pufferfish, whose identity became a big talking point among viewers at home.
Many fans believe they've worked out who is behind the costume, with many concluding it must be Jamie-Lynn Spears. Following several telling clues, viewers took to social media to reveal that they believe the US actress and singer is Pufferfish.
Taking to Reddit, somebody wrote: "Okay so this wasn't my idea but I've seen it somewhere and totally agree with it. Pufferfish could be Jamie-Lynn Spears?" before going on to list all of the clues and how they relate to Jamie, who is the younger sister of pop star Britney Spears.
The fan pointed out that the spider in the clue package could relate to Jamie's time on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! last year, while Pufferfish does have an American accent, which could also be a sign.
Another clue was a dice equalling 11, which may refer to Jamie finding fame age 11. The phrase 'Runs in the family' could point towards her famous sister Britney, while another phrase, 'Small but just as impressive', could also relate to her being the younger and shorter sister.
Other fans on Reddit agreed with the suggestion, with one saying: "That’s exactly who I was thinking!" while another added: "Omg I think it’s her."
Elsewhere, fans of The Masked Singer have criticised the new series, after accusing the show of being 'fake'. Many viewers are convinced that the judges are having their guesses influenced by TV bosses.
Taking to social media, viewers shared their thoughts on the situation. One person said: "The fact that the judges are pretending not to immediately know Kingfisher is Harry Hill, just proves they're not allowed to make any real attempt at guessing who it is."
A second wrote: "Everything feels forced. I don't get the point in judges picking who sings next. Are they just coming up with new ways to make the episode longer. I prefer series with Rita involved."
The Masked Singer continues on ITV1 on Sunday 12 January.
