by Ramla Jeylani · The MirrorBritain’s Got Talent viewers were left horrified after professional sword swallower Auzzy Blood took to the stage with an extreme and graphic performance.
Fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to express their discomfort, with many calling the act "disturbing" and questioning whether it was suitable for TV. Auzzy Blood, a three-time Guinness World Record holder, is no stranger to pushing boundaries.
The seasoned performer has competed on six different Got Talent shows worldwide, including a previous appearance on America’s Got Talent. Known for his death-defying stunts, he specialises in extreme body manipulation, sword swallowing, and shock-inducing acts that leave audiences wincing.
During his BGT audition, Auzzy took things to another level, performing a series of dangerous and gruesome tricks that had the judges and audience squirming. While the panel watched in amazement, some viewers at home were less impressed, branding the performance "gross" and arguing that such extreme acts shouldn’t be aired on prime-time television.
Social media quickly erupted with reactions, with one viewer posting: "Auzzy Blood probably the most disturbing thing I’ve seen! what makes someone think I’m going to try and shove a metal hook up my nose."
Whilst another added: "Ohh my god auzzy that was flipping mad that was hard to watch but wow that was brilliant at the same time." A third penned: "I’m actually terrified but amazed at auzzy blood rn." And a fourth added: "Well, I loved the hook guy, Auzzy Blood! Terrifying, gruesome and my throat and nose hurt just watching him but he's unique!"
A fifth wrote: "AUZZY BLOOD on BGT was disgusting, not entertainment, pre watershed and a terrible example to children watching a supposed family show." And a sixth added: "Can't watch Auzzy Blood! what a weirdo! I've changed channel." And a seventh wrote: "How horrific is that act? OMG so not suitable for kids to watch. One question though - How on earth would you even know you can do that? #BritainsGotTalent."
Auzzy performed on the 2022 edition of America's Got Talent and also performed on the Spanish version of the show in 2023. Fans were horrified the act, which took sword swallowing to a new level as Ant and Dec begged people not to try it at home.
Simon previously revealed they would get complaints over the act. He said: "It's spooky horror where you don't want to watch it, but you do want to watch it. That's obviously why we're going to show it. We probably will get some complaints. Hopefully." He further joked: "I love it when they say 'don't try this at home' like we've all got screws and things just waiting to do that."
Despite the shocking nature of the performance, Simon maintained that it is still appropriate for children to view and will be broadcast before the 9pm watershed.
