Danny Jones' wife turns down huge CBB offer after Maura Higgins kiss scandal
ITV bosses had hoped to sign Georgia Horsley up for the upcoming series, tempting her with a six-figure sum, say sources
by Janine Yaqoob · The MirrorGeorgia Horsley has turned down a huge offer to appear on Celebrity Big Brother after her recent marriage woes with McFly husband Danny Jones.
The former Miss England was in early talks to feature in the upcoming series of the hit reality show - but decided to reject the opportunity, we can reveal. She was approached after her husband was filmed kissing fellow I'm A Celebrity campmate Maura Higgins at a BRITs afterparty earlier this month. Show bosses wanted Georgia to spill on their relationship - but sources say the mum-of-one "doesn't want to air her personal life in public" and instead wants to focus on her family, particularly their son Cooper, six.
One insider said: "She’s heartbroken, but she’s dealing with it in her own way, away from the cameras and headlines. She’s never been interested in the spotlight when it comes to personal matters. Georgia believes some things should be handled behind closed doors, especially for Copper’s sake. Right now, she’s just trying to process everything without outside noise influencing her decisions."
ITV and Georgia's teams had meetings to discuss a possible appearance but it couldn't be finalised, tells the source. One industry insider says a six-figure sum was on the table for her.
Georgia has been lying low since the footage of Danny and Maura came out. She cancelled a planned public appearance at The Baby Show last weekend where she had been due to front a live podcast for Mum's The Word alongside co-host Kelsey Parker.
The source said: "A lot of people have approached her about speaking out or doing interviews, but that’s just not who she is. Georgia doesn’t want to turn this into a public spectacle. She’s focused on figuring out if there’s anything left to save in her relationship, but she’ll do that privately, on her own terms."
Danny and Maura were filmed in a clinch in the foyer of the Universal afterparty in the early hours of March 2. Maura was captured appearing to give him a couple of pecks before he leaned down to kiss her on the mouth. Neither have yet to comment publicly on what happened.
Despite the strain recent events have put on the couple, sources say Danny and Georgia - who have been married since 2014 after meeting in 2009 - are working hard to mend their relationship. Those close to the pair say they're "very much still together" and they are working through their problems.
"They want to try make this work," said the source. "Even with everything going on, Georgia still respects Danny enough not to make this some big media circus. She’s upset, she’s hurt, but she’s keeping it all within her inner circle. She wants to deal with this quietly and make decisions based on what’s best for her and Copper, not what the public thinks.
"Unlike a lot of people in their world, Georgia values privacy above all else. She won’t do TV, she won’t do tell-alls, she just wants to handle things in a way that feels right for her and her family. The last thing she wants is for this to turn into a spectacle."
Georgia and Danny put on a united front earlier this week, when they were pictured taking a walk together in public.
It was previously reported that Celeb BB bosses were keen to get former Miss England Georgia on the show, where she might open up about how she’s feeling and what’s next for her marriage. The show is set to air on April 7 with names in the frame including Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd, Olympian Daley Thompson, Love Island's Chris Hughes, TOWIE's Ella Rae Wise and ex EastEnders actor James Bye.
