ITV The Masked Singer fans 'work out' Wolf's identity after 'fairy tale' clue

Fans of The Masked Singer have been eagerly trying to guess the identities of this year's contestants, with many certain they have worked out who Wolf really is

The Masked Singer fans have been eagerly trying to work out which celebrities are behind the costumes, following the launch of this year's series on 5 January. The popular ITV show is back with a fifth series, with Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, Jonathan Ross and Maya Jama making up the judging panel.

Following the elimination of Spag Bol, who turned out to be Kate Garraway, the remaining characters on the show are Dressed Crab, Kingfisher, Snail, Tattoo, Teeth, Pufferfish, Bush, Bear, Toad in the Hole and Wolf. Many viewers think they've already pieced together who some of the famous faces are, with several certain they know who Wolf really is.

Taking to Reddit, many fans shared their view that Wolf is singer Marti Pellow. One fan made a post outlining the clues which point towards Marti being the celebrity behind the mask.

"I'm pretty confident that Wolf is Marti Pellow from Wet Wet Wet and here's clues that prove it. Pope - did a cover of the folk song called Dante's Prayer.

"Ship - his great grandfather was a ship builder. Wolf pack - lead singer of pop group Wet Wet Wet. Fairy tale - has starred in pantos including Peter Pan. Has been on west end/Broadway. He was in the Broadway adaption of Jekyll & Hyde, hence the Jekyll and Hyde clue someone mentioned on the thread," the post read.

Other fans of The Masked Singer agreed with the suggestion, with one person writing: "100% Marti Pellow. The most obvious in the history of the show." Another said: "I’m with you on Marti Pellow! I was struck by the voice instantly."

Another contestant whose identity has caused a stir among TV viewers is Pufferfish. Fans are sure that singer Jamie-Lynn Spears must be behind the costume.

Taking to Reddit, somebody wrote: "Okay so this wasn't my idea but I've seen it somewhere and totally agree with it. Pufferfish could be Jamie-Lynn Spears?" before going on to list all of the clues and how they relate to Jamie, who is the younger sister of pop star Britney Spears.

The fan pointed out that the spider in the clue package could relate to Jamie's time on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! last year, while Pufferfish does have an American accent, which could also be a sign.

Another clue was a dice equalling 11, which may refer to Jamie finding fame age 11. The phrase 'Runs in the family' could point towards her famous sister Britney, while another phrase, 'Small but just as impressive', could also relate to her being the younger and shorter sister.
