Holly Willoughby and Bear Grylls's new Netflix show featured such a bitter argument between the star contestants that show bosses were forced to hold emergency meetings - a report has claimed.

Former This Morning star Holly, 43, has teamed up with controversial adventurer Bear, 50, for a new reality show that sees a batch of celebrities dumped into a jungle environment and tasked with avoiding capture by the Running Wild star. Celebrities including Strictly judge Shirley Ballas, Celebs Go Dating star Lottie Moss and rugby hunk Danny Cipriani were among the stars taking part in the show.

But a report has suggested that the celebs didn't all see eye-to-eye while the cameras were rolling on the show - which is called Celebrity Bear Hunt. A clash of personalities became so bitter that bosses had to intervene.

It is alleged that the participants signed up expecting adventure and cooperation - and were less than impressed when events descended into arguments. With a risk that TV fans would compare the new show to existing formats like Big Brother, where arguments are part of the drama, bosses allegedly took steps to calm the contestants.

A source told The Sun: “There were some big personalities there and naturally, tensions started to brew. Tempers started to fray and people didn’t hold back.

"Things got so bad one night that the big bosses called an emergency meeting to remind the celebs that this was supposed to be a family friendly show. This really didn’t go down well with the stars, including Danny Cipriani – the last thing he wanted was to be on a show like Big Brother, which is full of rows and drama.” The Mirror has contacted Netflix for comment.

Celebrity Bear Hunt is due to begin streaming on Netflix next month and has been billed as a new start for Holly after her career on This Morning came to an end under a dark cloud. She was tainted by being associated with Phillip Schofield - who quit the show in May 2023 after admitting he engaged in an affair with a much younger crew member behind-the-scenes of the daytime show.

Holly and Phil had caused months of negative headlines before his exit - including a scandal over seemingly skipping a queue to view the late Queen Elizabeth II lying in state - and rumours of behind-the-scenes arguments. Holly herself later quit the show after a horrifying kidnap plot against her was uncovered.

In recent months, however, Bear has been criticised for his unwavering friendship with Russell Brand - the comedian who has been accused of a string of serious crimes, including rape; allegations that Brand himself has furiously denied. Bear drew attention when he 'liked' Brand's social media content while allegations emerged about him.

The Island host also welcomed Brand into the church by overseeing his Christian baptism. Many have considered Brand's conversion to Christianity as a cynical attempt to re-brand himself following the scandalous allegations against him.

Celebrity Bear Hunt will be available to stream via Netflix on Wednesday 5 January 2025.
