Strictly Come Dancing fans fear two major stars are set to quit show

Strictly Come Dancing fans are convinced that two major stars of the BBC dance competition series will quit the show this year after they landed high profile jobs elsewhere

Strictly Come Dancing could be set to lose two of its most recognisable stars after they both landed new jobs away from the iconic BBC dance floor.

Janette Manrara, who was originally a pro dancer on the series and now presents the spin-off show It Takes Two, is to make her West End debut in the role of Roxie Hart in the stage musical Chicago from March this year. She announced the news by sharing a Chicago poster with the caption: "Extra extra! Big news for Foxy Roxie! The dazzling Janette Manrara will be joining the #ChicagoUKTour as Roxie Hart from 3rd March!"

Meanwhile Dianne Buswell, who won the Strictly trophy at the end of last year with her celebrity partner Chris McCausland, has recently announced she is making a podcast series with comedian Chris, and also has a new fashion deal with the clothing brand In The Style to keep her busy.

Fans online have guessed that she may not be returning to Strictly later this year. One wrote: "I wouldn’t be surprised if Dianne left to focus either on other career developments or family," while a second commented: "I don’t think she’ll be able to top this partnership and this series." A third said: "I can see Dianne is pulling the classic move of leaving right after winning."

Indeed, Oti Mabuse left the show after winning two years in a row, first with Kelvin Fletcher and then with comedian Bill Bailey, while Camilla Dallerup left in 2008 after winning with Holby City star Tom Chambers.

This week, the Strictly live tour featuring some of the show’s best known dancers has been hit by cancellations due to Storm Eowyn. The first date in Glasgow was postponed on Friday 24 January. In a statement released on Thursday, the show's bosses said: "Due to the red weather warning in place tomorrow, the Friday evening performance of Strictly Come Dancing The Live Tour will be rescheduled to Sunday evening, 26 January.”

The 30 date tour features seven couples, Jamie Borthwick and Michelle Tsiakkas, Montell Douglas and Kai Widdrington, Wynne Evans and Katya Jones, Tasha Ghouri and Aljaž Škorjanec, JB Gill, Amy Dowden and Lauren Oakley, Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola and Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu, as well as performances from other Strictly dancers, including Dianne Buswell.

The shows also feature TV judges Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse and Janette Manrara as the tour host.

Earlier this week Wynne Evans playfully took aim at judge Craig Revel Horwood. Appearing on Monday's The One Show, the Welsh Opera singer shared some backstage banter from the tour. He cheekily remarked: "It's fun, you know, it's just real fun, it's absolute entertainment. Craig is as rude as ever. He called me right, yesterday, he said that I was stompy and flat footed. Right?"

"So I said: 'Have you heard your album, mate, that's stompy and flat if ever I've heard it!' So yeah, there's quite a lot of banter and he gave me a two yesterday, so I was absolutely gutted, just because I was a bit rude about his album!"
