Maura Higgins to get 'shock of her life' after being dumped in I'm A Celeb jungle during secret trial
Maura Higgins and the Reverend Richard Coles are the latest stars to be joining I'm A Celebrity - but they won't be with the other campmates...
by Katie Wilson · The MirrorMaura Higgins will finally make her I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! debut this week.
The 33-year-old Love Island star turned TV presenter - who is rumoured to be dating TOWIE and Strictly Come Dancing star Pete Wicks - will reportedly be dumped in the Jungle Junkyard as part of a secret trial.
But instead of joining the rest of this year's campmates, a TV insider claims Maura will be slumming it even more than the other celebs in a super basic camp - a far cry from the luxury hotel in Las Vegas she just flew in from.
In a shock twist, she will be joined by fellow latecomer Reverend Richard Coles. And ITV bosses are said to have "a few surprises up their sleeve" for the pair, which are sure to delight viewers.
A source claimed Maura is set to get the 'shock of her life' after being stripped off all her luxuries when she enters the jungle on Thursday night. They told MailOnline: "Maura and Richard Coles are in for the shock of their lives when they enter the Australian jungle as they will be sleeping in a horrible junkyard.
"Maura has gone from the bright lights of Sin City to being dumped into the basic camp, with no luxuries whatsoever. But in true I'm A Celeb fashion all is not what it seems, and viewers will soon discover the jungle has many secrets. Bosses have a few surprises up their sleeve for the upcoming series... and the Jungle Junkyard might be hiding the biggest one of all."
Maura jetted straight into Australia following a boozy, blow-out in Las Vegas. In an exclusive chat with The Mirror, she confessed: "Honestly, I'm not good….I feel like I'm in The Hangover, I've even got the shakes."
Even her own mum was surprised when she signed up to the ITV show as she admits to being 'more of an indoor girl." Maura told us: "My mum nearly died when I told her I'd signed up to the jungle. She went: 'Maura, how are you going to do that?' I like my hotels. I've never slept outside."
She has even refused to camp even at festivals. "I'm always like, 'no, get me back to a hotel," she laughs. So what can we expect when she enters the camp? Maura shared: "It's been five years [since Love Island] and I think I've matured, but I still have a potty mouth. I'm still the same kind of girl but I'm not going to go in and annihilate anyone.
"However, if someone gets on my nerves, I'm not really one to hold it in. I do speak my mind. If someone patronized me, I get really irritated. Like, that's one thing that really drives me mad.”
She added: "I just don't want to let people down, because everyone's been DMing me, saying 'Oh my God, I hope you're doing the show. I don't want to back out of the trials and be the biggest wimp in the camp.”
*I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight from 9pm on ITV1
