Love Island: All Stars is back this month for a second season filled with familiar faces looking for love a second time.

But while the upcoming reality show promises to include some of the biggest names from the ITV dating show's history - fans might be shocked to hear just how little the cast will make while taking part in the series. Long time fans of Love Island will be well aware that those who find fame on the series can go on to rake in huge sums of money - with the likes of Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury said to be worth tens of millions of pounds after they utilised the show to propel them into the public spotlight.

It seems starring on the show itself is far from a quick way to make money, however, as the stars returning to the villa are said to be earning far less than what they could likely command for an influential social media post. And it is also reported that the entire cast are paid the same flat fee - meaning it doesn't matter who is more popular among fans of the show, or who might have the biggest social media following.

Former winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu rumoured to be taking part and fan favourites like Luca Bish and Marcel Somerville already confirmed as part of the line up. But they won't be lining their pockets with that much money - even if they make it through all four weeks of the show.

A source told The Sun: "The All Stars cast all earn £2,000 a week to appear on the series, so if they stay in for the whole run, they'll bank just over £8K. Obviously it's more than they'd earn doing a regular job, but as far as reality TV salaries go, it's not that huge.

"They could earn a lot more on other shows like Strictly or Celebrity Masterchef, and it's certainly not as lucrative as the club PAs or the money they rake in from Instagram ads. The reason they sign up, however, is nothing to do with the money - it's great exposure which allows them to cash in when they leave the villa." The Mirror has contacted ITV for comment.

Love Island fans have lamented the fact that the contestants have returned to try to find love - or fame - a second time. One wrote on X: "Something very tragic about the love island all stars concept. Just a bunch of z list people desperately clawing at fame." And another similarly wrote: "What’s the point in all stars? These people will all already know each other from love island things, it’s just a cling for some more fame. I will be watching tho ofc."

Fans have been especially surprised to see reports that Ekin-Su is to return to the format - and not just because she won the series in 2022. She appeared on ITV's revived Celebrity Big Brother last year and flew into tear soaked tantrums complaining over the fact everyone reduced her to being famous for only starring in Love Island - despite none of her fellow housemates said that to her.

Her involvement in the iconic house-set reality show dented her fame - with many turning against her. And now fans have joked over her alleged involvement in Love Island: All Stars. One wrote on X: "Ekin Su returning to love island after ruining her career on big brother trying to make out she was more than love island is HILARIOUS #loveislandallstars."

While her involvement is yet to be confirmed, a source told the Daily Mail this week: "The deal is agreed in principle, there's still some details to sort out, but there's huge hope she's finally agreed to take a second chance at finding long-lasting love in front of the nation."

Love Island: All Stars will return to ITV2 and ITVX on Monday 13 January 2025 at 9pm.
