Jack O'Connell returns as Paddy Mayne

SAS Rogue Heroes season 2 start date, cast, episode count and plot confirmed

SAS Rogue Heroes is coming back to BBC One for a second series and it's set to be bigger and better than the first, with plenty of new faces joining the cast

SAS Rogue Heroes is set to make a triumphant return to BBC One with a fresh series, and the new instalment begins with David Stirling (portrayed by Connor Swindells) appointing Paddy Mayne (Jack O'Connell) as the leader while he was held captive.

Paddy, a natural-born maverick, brings a unique style of leadership, and his unconventional actions keep the regiment on high alert. Creator Steven Knight hinted: "Paddy is the one that punches the commanding officer, rather than being the commanding officer.

"What intrigued me throughout reading the history was how Paddy handled that, and he did manage it in an extraordinary and different way. I wanted Paddy front and centre, to examine his character, not gloss over some of the flaws and understand as I think with all of the men actually that they were chosen by war."

The synopsis further elaborates: "GHQ have cast doubt over the future of the regiment, while the formation of a second unit and an influx of new recruits add to the challenges faced by the men. Can they demonstrate that the SAS remains crucial to the war, wherever it may lead them?".

Here's everything you need to know about the new series.
