ITV Vera actor joins star-studded cast of Harlan Coben's new Netflix drama

A Vera star is joining the cast of Harlan Coben's new Netflix drama.

Vera actor Joe McGann, known for his role as Julian Carr in the ITV detective series, is set to star in a new Netflix drama. McGann, who has also appeared in Casualty, Hollyoaks, and Netflix's Kaos, will play Wiley Corval in Run Away, a series based on a novel by bestselling author Harlan Coben.

Run Away is the latest collaboration between Netflix and Coben, who has created hits like Fool Me Once, The Stranger, and Missing You. The series boasts a talented cast, including James Nesbitt (The Missing), Ruth Jones (Gavin and Stacey), Minnie Driver (Good Will Hunting), Alfred Enoch (The Critic), and Lucian Msamati (Conclave).

Other cast members include Jon Pointing (Sweetpea), Ellie de Lange (Wolf Hall), Ellie Henry (Hollyoaks), Tracy-Ann Oberman (Friday Night Dinner), Annette Badland (Ted Lasso), and Ingrid Oliver ( Doctor Who ).

The show's synopsis reads: "Simon [James Nesbitt] had the perfect life: loving wife and kids, great job, beautiful home. But then his eldest daughter Paige [Ellie de Lange] ran away and everything fell apart.

"So now when he finds her, vulnerable and strung out on drugs in a city park, he finally has the chance to bring his little girl home.

"But it turns out she's not alone, and an argument escalates into shocking violence. In the aftermath, Simon loses his daughter all over again, and his search to find her will take him into a dangerous underworld, revealing deep secrets that could tear his family apart forever."

Excitement builds as Harlan Coben's gripping thriller Run Away gets a British makeover, set to unfold against the gritty backdrop of Manchester and the North West this very month, reports Chronicle Live.

Run Away is also Netflix's thirteenth Harlan Coben novel adaptation, packing eight episodes filled with suspense that lasts a heart-pounding hour each.

On the streaming giant right now are several of Coben's nail-biting tales including Missing You, Fool Me Once, Gone For Good, The Stranger, Stay Close, The Innocent, Hold Tight, The Woods, and Safe.

Run Away will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
